Fresh 48 photography in North virginia

Congratulations on your pregnancy! I am so excited to meet you soon and capture those first moments of your life with a new baby! The moments you didn't know you wanted or needed to remember. The moments that you're too tired to capture. The session usually takes place inside the hospital a day or two after birth. Let's read on and find out how to best prepare for your session, so we can create the best images for you to cherish.

Stay in contact

This is probably the most important thing to keep in mind. Please remember to notify me when you are going into labor, or assign your partner to the task. This will give me enough time to schedule your session. If you are having a planned c-section, we can schedule your Fresh 48 well before so it's one less thing to think about.

No visitors

It's an exciting time and everyone wants to see the new baby, understandably. Please ask any guests to leave when the session starts so there are less distractions. Of course, hospital staff do not count and I will leave the room during any routine check-ups for you. It would be helpful if you have any extended family members who can watch any siblings until it is their time to be in the session.

prep The room

I know that tidying your hospital room will be the last thing you want to do after birth, but a tidy room really helps to make the images that much better! You're removing distractions so the focus can remain on your family and the baby. Please try to pack away any extra blankets, pillows and hospital bags which may be laying on the couch/armchair. Don't stress, if you don't have the time tidy beforehand, I can shift some things when I get there. I will also be opening all blinds and turning off overhead lights. Please try to turn up the heat in the room if possible!

outfits

If possible, it would be lovely if you could prepare a comfortable gown/robe to wear for your session. Something with neutral colors, or with soft florals, but try to stay away from bright colors such as red and orange. A matching/complimentary swaddle for baby would look great too. Newborns love to be swaddled so it will help massively. If you can, please have baby already dressed in a simple onesie (solid, neutral colors). This will allow us to capture their tiny features. Dad can wear a nice shirt, t-shirt, or sweater, again in neutral colors, and no patterns if possible. The same applies for any siblings. Don't stress if you need to remain in your hospital gown, these are just suggestions.

That's all!

Your session should take about 1 hour. A quick session, but we will get all we need. I will deliver a gallery within 2 weeks via email where you can download the amount of images you package states. I look forward to meeting you and your new little one! Please message me if you have any questions at all, or if there is something I have missed here.
